Many people swear that Vista Aero does not suck up more battery than Vista Basic. Well lets see if we can prove them wrong. Get this neat little utility that extends your lappys batterylife by automatically disabling/enabling Aero depending when you connect or disconnect power.... read on... This little tool does the nifty job of changing the power plan from high performance to powersaver and also automatically turns on and off the Vista Aero effects when your notebook is plugged in or running on battery. It does the same for the sidebar. Running the program is simple. Unzip it into a folder. Create a shortcut in your startup menu to automatically run Aerofoil. Once the program is loaded, if there is a change in the power source from plugged in to battery. It will automatically toggle your power scheme, Aero effects and the sidebar. When the application starts up the Aerofoil tray icon will appear. It gives you notifications when you switch from AC power to battery power.
Right clicking system tray icon allows you to change the Aerofoil settings.
Its a really simple application that fills the Gap in my notebook where the notebook manufacturer should have added the utility to toggle the power scheme. But with Aerofoil now I get that and more. Now I can even extend my precious battery life further toggling the power thristy features of Vista on and off. This tool is free for you to try and use. So why not install it and try it out...
