If you find that Vista takes forever to copy large files over the network. You are not alone... Luckily this annoyance has a tweak that might actually help... read on...
Do these dialogs look farmiliar to you? The problem happens due to the way Vista copies files over the network. It uses a technology called remote differential compression. Luckily this annoyance can be easily tweaked away. 1. Go to the Control Panel and Double Click on "Programs and Features"
2. Click on "Turn Windows Features On and Off" in the left pane.
3. Deselect "Remote Differential Compression".
Viola.... reboot computer and check file copies. If still annoyingly slow, you might need to update your network drivers and might even want to google out these two hotfixes KB938979 and KB931770. Add as favourites (38) | Quote this article on your site | Views: 11481
