I just can't say this enough SSH rocks SSH rocks. But... putty the default means I use to connect to my SSH server kinda needs some additional features. With port forwarding, heck SSH is almost as good as a VPN. Hmmm... don't you wish you had some utility that lets you connect to your SSH server without any fuss at the same time have automatic reconnection like some commercial VPM clients... well looks like this wish has been granted and for quite sometime now... take a look at this FREE tool... readon... This free tool I am talking about is called Myentunnel, its one of those free utilities that are simple and just works. It establishes its connections using plink. During the install it even prompts you that its gonna install plink. Plink was developed by the same developers as putty to provide commandline interface to putty. You can even choose to install the application as a service Once the application is installed you can begin to configure the settings... take note of the reconnect on failure option... yeah!! This nice utility allows you to setup your port forwarding just like putty Once you got it all setup just click connect and your hooked up to your ssh server
It the connection drops it will automatically reconnect to your ssh server sweet... great for downloading large files over the ssh connection! Just make sure your downloading app supports resuming as well. Or connecting ssh through flakey proxy servers. Just can't understand why the putty team did not put the feature in... sigh...
