Download managers are common today. If your not using one you should. It will probably save the internet some bandwidth as they support resuming broken downloads. You can even pause a download and continue it later. But so many of them which one is the best? Which to choose... Well let me tell you what I am using.... Read on...

The name of this little download manager is called Free Download Manager. Ok I know by now you are starting to like the sound of this download manager.... The "FREE" word always gets me excited. Maybe its because I'm Singaporean. Well ok... I drifting away from the point. This free dowload manager has whatever most pay versions have.

Here are a list of features that Free Download Manager

  • Free Download Manager (FDM) offers you a vast variety of options to control and schedule your downloads. This is a light-weight but powerful download manager.
  • FDM can resume your broken download so that you needn't start it from the beginning after casual interruption.
  • FDM allows you to limit the downloading speed. There are 3 modes of network usage: Light, Medium and Heavy.
  • Capability to split download into several sections allows you to increase download speed up to 600%.
  • FDM can connect to the Internet at a set time, download the files you want, launch any program, disconnect or shut down your computer when it's done.
  • This download manager allows you to specify the settings of network usage, such as login and password, maximum number of connections, default group, etc. So you can avoid adjusting these settings every time you need to create new download from the server.
  • Also you can download the whole web sites from the remote server. You can adjust FDM to download files with the extensions you have specified.
  • NEW! FDM 2.1 gives you a new opportunity - you can now request other users’ opinion on the file you are going to download as well as write your comment on the downloaded file - right in the download window! In this way you will always be warned against useless and corrupted files or malicious content.

Here is a screenshot of the main application

It adds itself to the right click menu, so you can use it when you right click on a link

The popup options window allows you to choose where to put the files and even add comments... hmm... kinda looks farmiliar... hehehe...

Like I said the honest set of features any download manager has. But it has a new nifty feature you can request users opinions on downloads before you actually start downloading. Well on top of that it runs perfectly in Windows Vista. The only gripe I have is that there is a small nag button in this application. Other than that I highly recommend you download and try this download manager.

Well written software for its purpose. Has other features under the hood if you choose to explore. All in all good stuff. I give it   Cool CoolCoolCool cool smilies. Minus 1 for the nagg button, almost perfect. If you guys download this please tell the author to remove the nag button, he can leave the nagg on his website.

Okok... have not forgotten to provide you the link. Down load it HERE...
