Being an IT professional has it's occupational hazards. I had the standard blurred vision that plagued those who used the computer for long periods of time. That did not stop me from continuing on my pc. But lately something that happened really had an impact on me. I woke up one morning and guess what, I just had double vision, it was sudden and immediate. It just took the fun out of watching TV, I could not drive. Basically it made me realise how important my eyesight was to me and how much I have been taking it for granted. Luckily there was something that could be done... read on....... Sending a large email attachment can sometimes be a real hassel. Why not host the attachment on a website for free? Email your friend the link and just let them download it. No registration required! I have to keep track of so many passwords these days.. at least for a hundred different systems. It would be almost impossible to keep them all in my head. So I store them in a password safe on my notebook. But the problem is I don't bring my notebook everywhere. So luckily this password safe application can run from a thumbdrive and even from a smartphone. And guess what... its FREE!!... readon... So happens there comes a time when you need to track whos been adding what to your documents, and how to revert back to last Mondays copy of a document. What you need is a software to manage the versions and track the changes done by whomever. What you need is a tool called subversion. I've been hunting around for some good document to go through the install step by step but could not find one short of reading an entire book on the subject. So I decided to write a small document on what I did to install my copy of subversion on Debian etch, just using apt... read on...
